    Title- September is Here
School bells ringing in the morning,
Little girls in fresh print gowns.
    Little boys playing together
Some acting like wild circus clowns.
From the trees the red leaves falling,
    Wild geese flying overhead,
    The squirrels hiding countless nuts
    In their secret, wintry bed.
All these signs point just one way.
Their meaning to the world is clear.
    September, first month of autumn,
    Once again is reigning here.

    September is the month
    When summer turns to fall.
    Vacation time is over,
It’s back to school for all.
    So even though I’m sad,
    How fast the summer ends.
I’m really glad I have the chance
To meet and make new friends.

  4. Labor Day
    By Lill Pluta

    People work. People play.
That's why we have Labor day.
    Plumbers, bakers, painters, vets,
    Fisherman with giant nets.
    Firefighters, engineers,
    Barbers snipping with their shears.
    Teachers, waiters, nurses, cooks,
    Authors writing thrilling books.
    Carpenters an deputies.
People who take care of bees.
No matter what it is you do.
There's one thing that's always true.
    Every worker needs rest.
I hope your Labor Day's the best!

    September
    by Sara C. Tate

September, September the first month of fall,
It’s the first month of school and football.
September has the holiday Labor Day,
And in those fall leaves we love to play!
You might need to wear your favorite sweater,
    With all this changing weather!
    Eating apples and sipping cider,
Our smiles can’t get any wider.
    Welcome September, Welcome!

  6. “Come, Little Leaves” by George Cooper

    “Come, little leaves,”
    Said the wind one day,
    “Come to the meadows
    With me and play;
    Put on your dresses
    Of red and gold,
    For summer is past,
    And the days, grow cold.”

    Soon as the leaves
    Heard the wind’s loud call,
    Down they came fluttering,
    One and all.
    Over the meadows
    The dances and flew,
    All singing the soft
    Little songs they knew.

  7. September Elves
    By: Lenore Hetrick

Each little elf took a paint pot.
Oh, but the paint was bright!
They painted the leaves fine colors.
They painted all day and night.
September smiled when she saw them.
"What a help you are!" she said.
Each little elf was so pleased
    Their faces turned bright red!

    Falling Leaves
    By: Alissa Manning-Telisak

    Leaves are falling on my
    head,
    They're coming down like
    rain.
    Falling leaves are oh-so-
    pretty,
But raking them can be a
    pain.

    Leaves are falling
    everywhere,
It can be seen for miles.
    Grown-ups are busy
    raking leaves,
    While kids are jumping in
    the piles!
